幼少期から学んだクラシックバレエを礎に、バレエで培った手の表現と、 砂という素材ならではの場面展開を取り入れ、
音楽とともに物語を紡ぐライブサンドアートを国内外で発表している。
これまでに林原めぐみやディズニーオンクラシックなどのアーティストとの共演を重ね、 秋篠宮殿下・紀子様の前でもサンドアートを披露。
映像分野では東方神起、斉藤和義などのミュージックビデオを制作し、
イラストレーションでは道尾秀介著『風神の手』の装丁画をはじめ、雑誌や絵本など幅広い媒体で作品を発表している。
近年は、舞台全体を一つの物語として構成する作品づくりにも力を入れ、長編作品の創作にも取り組んでいる。
Karin Ito is a Japanese sand artist whose live performances bring stories to life through music and sand.
Inspired by years of classical ballet training, she combines expressive hand movements with the unique storytelling possibilities of sand to create original performances presented both in Japan and internationally.
She has collaborated with artists including Megumi Hayashibara and Disney on CLASSIC, and has performed before Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko of Japan.
In addition to her live performances, she has created music videos for artists such as TVXQ and Kazuyoshi Saito.
Her illustration work includes the cover artwork for Shusuke Michio's novel Fūjin no Te (The Wind God's Hand), as well as illustrations for magazines and picture books.
In recent years, she has also focused on creating stage works built around a single narrative, including longer-form productions.
